The Nature of Things
The Circle is in charge of the land of Embrachal. The highest-ranking rulers cover the main aspects of the people’s existence.
The driving aim of the Circle is that of protection – threats to the inhabitants of Embrachal are abundant, and any who wish to join the Circle must take the Pledge, an oath that they will do whatever they can to protect those who live in any of the three regions, provided that in doing so they so not cause undue harm or distress to others.
Within the Circle, concepts such as fairness and honesty are heavily focused upon, and even those who seem untrustworthy are given a chance, just one chance, to show that their intentions are honourable should they declare a wish to join the Circle. For the Circle is everyone, all together, all equal. Embrachal has been largely untouched by more aggressive and deceitful minds in other realms – the attitude of its people is generally one at least tolerance, if not outright acceptance. Of course, there are exceptions – there always are. But for the most part, the people of Embrachal are willing to welcome anyone who poses them no threat.
Each area of life ruled by the Circle is called an Arc. The five Arcs are…
The Body – Physical might, weapons, etc
The Mind – Those who follow the arcane or psionic paths
The Heart – Those whose path is primal
The Spirit – Those who follow a deity (any deity)
The Hands – Traders, workers, etc – those not trained in martial or magical ways of life
The highest rank in the Body is Komtor. The current Komtor is called Sarumi.
