The Nature of Things
Kargak is a dwarven Artificer who lives at the northern edge of the village of Farwatch. He has probably lived there longer than most of the current villagers, dwarves having a greater lifespan than humans.
Kargak’s house is mostly made of stone, and consists of a single-storey house with a small tower-room built into one side of the roof. Around his house is a low stone wall, inscribed with runes similar to those etched around the door and on many other parts of the house, as well as objects inside the house itself. There are a number of strange (for the area) trees also found within the boundaries of the wall, growing close to the walls of the house. They are of a type with gnarled bark, dark green foliage, and trunks and branches that seem to twist around to ideas of their own as they grow.
Kargak himself is a fairly amiable dwarf. He doesn’t leave his house too often, but when he does it’s usually to give some kind of assistance to the villagers of Farwatch. When the Circle’s reach extended to the village, Kargak assisted Komtor Sarumi in building a small outpost, imbuing the stonework with his own magic in order to protect it. Kargak presumably also enchants more mundane items to help the villagers as there are plenty of these to be found within his workroom in the small, single-floored tower above the main room of his house.
One of Kargak’s best-known constructions is a homunculus called Sid, a four-armed obsidian humanoid who assists the dwarf in various ways, usually serving as a messenger when Kargak needs something from the villagers.
